PSMBFI celebrates 19 Years of Service

West Crame, San Juan City - In keeping with its mandate to deliver quality life insurance coverage to all public safety practitioners, the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc. (PSMBFI) celebrated its 19th Founding Anniversary last December 8, 2016 in Centris Elements, Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

With the theme “PSMBFI: 19 Years of Committed and Endearing Service to Public Safety Practitioners”, the event served as a testament to the viability and commercial success of the Association driven by the common goal of providing utmost services to its partner agencies and industry members.

Dir. Mario A. Avenido, PSMBFI President and CEO, officially welcomed the employees and guests to the event. Celebrating with the silver and white motif, he expressed how these colors truly represent the Association.

“In a sense, PSMBFI is in its own state of silver and white.  A “modern” player in the life insurance industry owing to its groundbreaking initiatives of covering the riskiest of professions, PSMBFI remains pure in its intention to oblige its members, treating challenges as opportunities and coming up with innovative ways of rendering service to its stakeholders,” Dir. Avenido stated.

He added, “For the past 19 years, the Company has successfully surpassed the challenges that stood on its way, especially for the past two and a half years.  And we will continue to face squarely other challenges that may lie ahead of us that could be brought about by the fast-emerging business environment and the growing intelligent market.”

PDG Ronald Dela Rosa, Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and PSMBFI Chairman of the Board of Trustees, graced the program and praised the Association’s commitment to serve the public safety professionals.

“As your Chairman, I salute the Association for its earnest efforts in sustaining the welfare of its members through dependable life insurance coverage while letting them perform their sworn duties to our country and people.”

“And as Chief, PNP, I thank the PSMBFI for putting the man-in-uniform at the center of its services and ensuring that they and their families are duly protected and cared for. Let me further say that this truly inspires and encourages them more to always give their best in serving and protecting the community amidst the risks and dangers of their jobs,” PDG Dela Rosa also stated.

On the other hand, Dir. Armando E. Ramolete, PSMBFI Vice-President, acknowledged the public safety practitioners for their continuous support throughout the years.

“…Thank you to our Public Safety Practitioners who have entrusted their insurance protection to PSMBFI for the last 19 years. Their continued confidence in us helped to position PSMBFI as one of the leading mutual benefit associations in the country.

He also praised the commitment of PSMBFI employees in delivering services to the Association members.

He stressed, “I would like to give due recognition to the hardworking employees of PSMBFI who have been at the forefront of delivering utmost services to our partner agencies and industry members. We laud their commitment and dedication in taking active roles in the vision and mission of the Association.”

The Anniversary program was attended by some PNP key officers, various public safety agency representatives, PSMBFI employees and guests. It also served as an employee engagement activity where it showcased the workforce group presentations through a mash-up singing competition, and also paved the way for a surprise game and raffle draw.

Established on December 11, 1997, PSMBFI started modestly out of the need to provide insurance coverage to public safety practitioners when the enactment of Republic Act No. 8291 (also known as the GSIS act of 1997) excluded the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of The Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) from the social insurance coverage of GSIS.

Today, PSMBFI caters to more than 164,000 members consisting of uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of public safety agencies with product offerings tailor-fitted to the needs and demands of the industry clients.
