PSMBFI insurance benefits for Marawi City police heroes
Filipinos nowadays no longer face ordinary terrorists but those of notorious groups influenced by the Isis with blatant disregard to the lives of innocent people. The country abhors terrorism in all forms, and the series of events that shook the nation geared the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund, Inc. to take a call to action to intensify its information campaign in order to educate members on the value of their membership and importance of insurance protection.
On May 23, 2017, the Maute terrorist group attacked Marawi City prompting the army and police to immediately take action in a bid to stop the terrorists and secure the city. The PNP lost some of its finest men in the days that followed, all are members of PSMBFI.
An exchange of fire ensued when the terrorists entered and overrun the Marawi City Police Station, which resulted to the death of PInsp Edwin Placido. As fire raged the second floor of the police station, PO1 Junaid Mama was among those who perished. Another casualty was PSInsp Fredie Manuel Solar who was taken hostage by the terrorists, and was reported to be shot after learning that he was a police officer.
There were also policemen who incurred injuries as they braved sniper fires such as PO3 Jeffrey Mayos and PO2 Dale Tayaban who were among those who secured the provincial capitol. They were brought to the nearest hospital for medical treatment.
The fight against terrorism is a concern of many nations. More innocent lives are lost when rebel atrocities are committed. The demise of a loved one will always be painful for the bereaved families, and the lives of most policemen and public safety practitioners are always at risk.
Death will always be heartbreaking for loved ones and PSMBFI can only do its best to ensure that the insurance benefits of the families left behind are immediately processed, the cash advance of the claim is given the soonest, and the benefits for injured members are received. PSMBFI honors the hero members for their courage, bravery, and love for our motherland.
